A few blogs back, I told about an anonymous statement I once found on a postcard: "The trouble is, I had lived most of my life, before I discovered it was a, "Do-it-yourself job."
What a different world this would be if everyone were brought up, from a young age, being taught that their life is a, "Do-it-yourself job"! Unfortunately, this is not what the Powers That Be, (PTB) want you to believe; it is in fact a revolutionary statement.
This blog is primarily about an individual's responsibility to the self; that phrase, "Life is a do-it-yourself job," is the ultimate expression of what this blog is advocating.
Instead, most everyone in this Country is brought up with Programming that says to focus on the self is, "selfish." You are indoctrinated into putting everyone else's interests before your own. In a crises situation, however, it is, seemingly, instinctual in humans to look out for each other, (even though humans aren't supposed to have, "instincts").
It is the self-sufficient individuals who are most able to assist during such situations.
Instead of taking responsibility for the self, the majority of individuals abrogate that responsibility by acceptance of, what they have been taught, are the FACTS of life. Take, for example, what we have been indoctrinated to believe are the natural, unchangeable, stages of life. Our beliefs about these purported stages are reinforced by the living examples all around us of people who have accepted and acquiesced to their Programming and Indoctrination.
(The body does change and evolve as the years go by, however, those changes can be influenced and contained through our personal intervention, and self-re-education. However, I, personally, am an example of one's body making changes that are considered, "impossible" by the, "experts," in human physiology.)
The end result of not taking personal responsibility for the physical self is, currently, even uglier than it used to be, unfortunately, as the encouragement of our abrogation of responsibility for ourselves has progressively increased. Why is that, you ask? I really don't like to have to say it, but that is the active encouragement, on the part of the PTB's, of what is known as the, "seven deadly sins." Those are: Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Anger, Greed, and Sloth. A corollary of these is blaming; instead of taking responsibility for our current state, we blame others. Few actively seek alternative solutions, or possibilities for themselves.
To return to the stages of life: Childhood, Youth, Adult, Middle-age, Old, and Elderly. If born in a healthy state, due to our bodies' natural vigor it usually takes a lot of abuse to cause it to malfunction, but, currently, many young children exhibit physical conditions which, used to be only seen in, say, middle-age.
Relatively few individuals among the multitude, starting in youth, no matter what their actual age, can be said to be actually healthy. In the medical profession, if your blood pressure, pulse rate, oxygenation levels and body temperature are in the, "normal" range, you are generally considered to be, "healthy." The fact that large numbers of middle-aged people cannot get up off the floor by themselves, is considered pretty, "normal."
Memory failing as one gets older, we have been led to believe, is normal. Only recently have products been advertised as reversing this process. The ability to recall information, a product of what you eat; do you think, maybe?
Failing eyesight the result of nutritional deficiencies; do you think, maybe?
Becoming stooped over, body shrinking, skin wrinkling and shriveling up, being the result of a lifetime of not drinking enough good, plain water; do you think, maybe?
Hot flashes, being the result of a lifetime of poor nutrition, do you think, maybe?
Becoming frail, with poor balance, being the result of neglecting your muscles as you get older, do you think, maybe?
Your bones loss of density, osteoporosis, being the product of what you do and do not put into your bodies, do you think, maybe?
Unfortunately, most people take better care of their cars than they do of their greatest treasure; their physical selves. Too busy to educate yourself regarding maintaining your health, you say?
Many individuals, I am happy to report, are currently actively maintaining their bodies through various forms of body flexibility and strengthening, and paying attention to what they put into those bodies, this is all to the good.
Your life is a, "Do it yourself job," don't you think it is about time you got started on it?
And so, I end today's blog.
