Still Trying To Hang In There!

Well, we managed to survive 2011, which has been agreed, by one-and-all, was an all-time bad year; considering the one before that was horrendous, that is saying a lot. In this blog, I want to begin this predicted-to-be even more momentous year of 2012, by saying, "hang in there."

It has been said, on the highest authority, that the only constant in life is change. We humans, including myself, are creatures of habit; we don't like change. So, tough! I guess. Personally, I am trying to maintain as positive an attitude as possible, and trying to stay out of negative thinking.

I am reminded of the first Astrological Chart I had done for me. It counseled me, as I recall, to try to maintain my job/income, living conditions, and housing situation during the coming months. During that period, not only did I change jobs, and where I lived, but I moved out of the area entirely! Trying to break it to me gently, I suppose.

Despite my tendency to like predictability in my life, a number of times I have done, what I call, figuratively, "jumping off a cliff." I think the above instance was one of those times when I made a total change in my life, without making any provision for myself on arriving at my planned destination. Thankfully, each time I managed to, "land on my feet." In each instance I had maintained an attitude of, "everything will work out fine."

While most of us humans would prefer to arrange our lives so that there are no surprises, life's little and big surprises are usually what spices up our lives by introducing change. Whether we want it or not, apparently, major changes are coming.

We have been conditioned to accept predictability in our lives, even if that predictability is not to our liking. We want to keep our Belief Systems in tact. We want to hold on to the idea that we live in a predictable and stable world. (If the last two years haven't caused any doubts about that, perhaps this year will do it.) My advice is to begin to do some, "what if, then what" thinking about our lives.

In this blog, I have encouraged people to examine their beliefs, and to take on an attitude that, instead of being facts, to change them to a status of, "as if true." A recent interview I saw on the Internet, corresponding to my advice, was to assign what one believes to a number on a scale of 0 to 10, with nothing being a o, or a 10.

As one example of adopting such a system was given the belief that, "my wife loves me." If you believe that at a 10, or totally, you will be totally devastated if she asks you for a divorce. If you had held that belief at a 7, 8, or 9, you might not be so totally wasted by being asked for a divorce. (This would come under the heading, "Assume nothing!" in my philosophy of life.)

A belief at the other end of the scale, was a non-belief in God. (Or, say, Extra Terrestrials--UFOs) Say you have chosen to reject the idea of God--a 0 on the Belief Scale--if you instead held that non-belief at a 1, 2, or 3, some of what one may experience in the near future may not be so hard to comprehend. (Since we humans like to credit/blame God for major events in our lives.)

What I am suggesting in this blog, is to try to be prepared for the unexpected, as all the indicators I have seen/read/heard-about strongly suggest that that is what is in our near future.

With that, I end today's blog.
