I have stated in a previous blog that, "I believe in Magic." Making such a statement in today's world, the "Powers-that-be" would have you believe, puts me in a category along with those people who still believe the world is flat, of which I understand there are a few.
As recently as the end of the sixteen-hundreds, those Powers put a lot of effort into torturing and burning-at-the-stake many, many people who refused to stop believing and practicing what was, "occult" knowledge, (currently called, "witchcraft"). The majority of those branded "witches," but not all, were women; this included women who used herbs to cure the ills of the common people. It is mostly women who have remained closer to, "Mother Nature" than men, who pride themselves in their, "rationality."
Since those days, Science has taken over from the Church the job of eliminating the belief in Magic from the Western World. "Magic" has come to be, "the practice of illusions by sleight-of-hand, deception, tricks, etc.," usually depicted as pulling a rabbit out of a hat, or cutting a woman-in-a-box in half, using a large wood saw; fun to watch, but not real.
One of the definitions, from Dictionary.com, for "Magic" is: "Magic, it was believed, could drive illness from the body." Well, wouldn't you know, it has now been established, through experimentation, that individuals, or a group of individuals, can bring about an increase in the body's ability to heal faster, than will those heal who have not received such attention. (There are still many in the medical profession who believe that adding Vitamins, Minerals and Herbs to one's diet to keep oneself healthy is akin to believing in Magic.)
Stating that, "you create your own reality," as I have throughout this blog, is, in effect, also stating a belief in Magic. The book, The Secret, which has been on the Best Seller List, is about how we can change our Reality, by changing our habits of thinking. How much of a stretch is it to then say, "We have created our current Reality by the way we think, and what be Believe"? The title, and the subject of this book are about the fact that this information has been and is still, "Occult" knowledge--hidden, protected, and kept from the hoi polloi.
Until recently--the last twenty-plus years--books on, so-called, "occult" matters were very difficult to come by. There are now many books available which were written by individuals, who spent many years believing themselves to be, "crazy," because of experiencing such things as: seeing ghosts, seeing auras around other people, leaving their bodies, having near-death experiences, seeing UFOs, etc., etc.
By definition, a belief in the occult, (what has been hidden and forbidden) is belief in Magic. Personally, I define, "the occult," basically, as "A Belief in the existence of a non-physical reality, underlying our physical reality." It is a belief that the non-physical world can be influenced in such a way as to bring about a change in the physical world. According to the primary Western Scientific Belief Systems, there is no such thing as the non-physical. Stating, "Thoughts are Things," to the staunch defenders of Western Scientific Thinking, is to brand oneself as being delusional. If the majority of Mental Hospitals/Institutions had not been shut down in the Sixties, the Powers-that-be would still be locking up people with such, "delusions" as I have written about here.
I keep being reminded of a story I read some time ago about someone who was in Africa--an anthropologist--who learned that the people in the group he was studying used trees to communicate with others of their group at a distance. As I recall, the individual would go to a tree and tell the tree he/she needed to contact someone at a distance. The individual who was distant would feel a need to approach a particular nearby tree, and would receive the message. When the anthropologist asked the native person why they did that, he was told, "we're too poor to have telephones."
If we moderns would only admit it, for all practical purposes, our understanding of recent technology is equivalent to saying "it's Magic." How many of us know how TVs work; Computers work; Cell Phones work; etc., etc.? Don't tell, but Scientists still don't know what lightning is, or why or how it does what it does; we have just managed to "harness" electricity for our many uses.
For most, it will come as a shock to be told that it is "Scientifically" impossible for any hail larger than pea-size to form. (You there, just forget about those golf-ball-size, base-ball-size, and larger, balls called, "hail", and the pictures you have seen showing, "hail" which has demolished people's cars, roofs, and otherwise wrecked havoc in their lives.)
There is now talk about, "Free Energy"; to most, this is equivalent to talking about a, "perpetual motion machine"--balderdash!-- ("senseless, stupid, or exaggerated talk or writing; nonsense", per Dictionary.com).
If most people weren't so Programmed and Indoctrinated into Believe otherwise, they would discover that, in actuality, Scientific explanations notwithstanding, our world can only be described as, "Magic."
With this challenge, I end today's blog.
